We had a such fantastic stay at Wooden Hare, what a wonderful self catering cottage! Beautifully presented and thoughtfully equipped it was the perfect retreat for us. The location is lovely and peaceful and there is also an outside hot tub overlooking the fantastic view. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again soon. Many thanks.

We stayed at Wooden Hare for a week and we totally unwound. The weather was great, the accommodation fab and really well thought out. Lovely decor, fab hot tub, fantastic views. Enclosed for our dogs who loved their holiday too. Not a lot of air traffic, wonderful sunsets and sunrises, watched the farmers working bailing hay in the fields. The hut overlooked the paddock with lovely horses and rabbits. Birds galore. Have recommended to family and friends as it allows dogs and children. Lovely welcome pack and gift bag to take home 🙂🙂🙂

This is a fabulous lodge in a gorgeous setting that cannot be faulted for its design and style. The only criticism would be that as a guest you cannot control the heating, having stayed in a cold week in February there were times when heating was required to make it homely and cozy which is what is expected. Despite this we had a great time and would recommend the lodge and location.

I just want to start by staying the lodge is beautiful and couldn’t be faulted. But that being said the ownership of the lodge and professionalism surrounding this is extremely poor. The woman running the lodge is rude and continuously tries to get more money from you (even during your stay).
The first day me and my partner had both counted out the cash to give on arrival (twice), we were then met by a child (extremely unprofessional) who took away the money. 5/10 minutes later we were informed by the woman over text that the child had counted the money twice and we were £20 short (that amount of money should not be left to a child to deal with). We knew this wasn’t correct as we withdrew the money straight from the bank, therefore will not have been a different amount to what we withdrew, and as previously said it was counted twice. To save any hassle and our word being against theirs we had to make a 30 minute round trip to withdraw an extra £20.
The second day, we were accused of buying a movie on their Prime account. Which we hadn’t. The messages were either replied with extremely blunt answers or ignored completed, more often the latter. At this point alarm bells were ringing and we realised that the ownership of this lodge was out to get as much money as possible from their guests.
After our departure, we were informed that we would have to pay the cleaners an extra hour and that this would be deducted from our security deposit. This was due to the dishwasher having clean plates in it as we turned it on before leaving, the fridge having a few cartons of juice left in it and a bin bag being left in the bin!!! We were told this took the cleaners an extra hour and therefore we would have to pay. There was nothing we could do as the security deposit was already in the hands of the owner. The instructions for our check out were that we would need to strip the beds and hoover the floor (if a pet was staying). It didn’t mention anything else. Due to the extremely harsh check out time (09:30) we didn’t have time to put the dishes away.
As I said to begin with, the lodge is beautiful. It’s just a shame that the ownership is ran by someone extremely rude and unprofessional (using children to handle 100’s of pounds in cash) and clearly trying to get as much money out of their guests as possible.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here if you value not being ripped off.
